We are so lucky to have several military members as part of our team...Active Duty members, Guard/Reserve Members, Retirees, and Veterans! They bring a wealth of knowledge to our communities, are great resources, and we are so grateful for them all! We know that being a new recruit can have its challenges, so our vets wanted to share some of their wisdom with you!
Here Are Some Pieces of Advice from Our Veterans on the Team:
- Charlie - Some advice I received before boarding the plane for basic training: When your TI (DI, Drill Sergeant, RDC) is in your face yelling at you, remember that he or she is not yelling at you, but rather at the person beside you. But if they are yelling at the person beside you, listen up! They're yelling at you! And the wise old adage, God gave you two ears and one mouth, and you should use them in that proportion.
- Kalina - Take a moment to reflect on your "why." What drives you? Hold onto that purpose, because you’re now part of a special group—only 1% of the population chooses this path. Wear that patch with pride and let it guide you on your journey!
- Kevin - First 30 Days: Eyes Up, Ears Open, Mouth Shut unless asked a direct question.
- Lasonja - My advice would be take advantage of all the programs and educational benefits the military offers; regardless if they are only staying for one enlistment or planning to retire.
