Self-Care During Deployment

Take Care of Yourself

Let's be real, when your spouse leaves for a deployment you find that you are by yourself a lot more than what you are used to. Normally, you have your best friend to go out with, to do things, to fix things, etc. However, this is no longer the case once they leave. The worst part is figuring out how to spend your time, it can be very frustrating. You feel as if you never have enough time to get everything done and also have time for yourself. If you keep going and going and going and you never stop to take a moment for yourself, then you are going to burn yourself out.

However, the good news is you can practice self-care during deployments. Figure out what you need to do for yourself. Do you enjoy getting your nails done? Do you need an hour or two to yourself to go to the gym? Or do you just want a glass of wine and a two-hour window to binge-watch your favorite show? Whatever it is, plan on doing it. The key is to find what you need, but also what you love.

Tips

The most important thing to do is to find time for YOU! That will look different for each and every one of us, but you have to take care of yourself, even in these challenging deployment times!
