This month I had the pleasure of getting to know J.A. Forde who is the epitome of the swoony romance writer! When not perfecting her books she can be found hanging out with her two kids and military spouse. J.A. Forde is also a huge reader and loves shouting out others that have won over her ears, she prefers audiobooks :).
I recently had the pleasure of reading her first book, On a Flight to Sydney (Love Along the Way Book 1), and could hardly put it down. I'm anxiously awaiting her second in this series which will hit shelves on February 28th!
What branch of the military are you affiliated with?
- My spouse is in the Navy.
How long have you been a military spouse?
- We got married in December 2008 and he’s still going, so that’s what just over 16 years.
What is your favorite part about being in a military family?
- I love the adventure of it and that we have the opportunity live in new places and always meet new people. It’s hard sometimes but it’s definitely an adventure.
What would you say is your biggest challenge being in a military family?
- The constant upheaval of our lives, even in the little things. Like having to start over with everything each time we move… doctors, dentists, gyms, schools, new houses, new everything. It can be overwhelming.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with our current military families?
- Try to always find the positives and look for the bright side. Maybe you get orders to somewhere you don’t what to go but if you have the right attitude about it you can often find you love those places the most!
How or why did you decided to become an author?
- I have always had a love of books and after connecting with authors more and more through my platform on Instagram I realized that it was something I wanted to do as well and I absolutely love it.
What books have been your favorite that you have written so far?
- My first book, On a Flight to Sydney, was definitely the easiest. It just flowed. But my second book, On the Slopes of Tahoe, though harder to write is my favorite so far!
Do you have more books planned for the future?
- I have a third book planned for the Love Along the Way series but I don’t have much released about that one yet. I also have a couple of standalone projects in the works for the next few years.
What author inspires you?
- A few authors that I aspire to be like are Emily Henry and Abby Jimenez. I’m also inspired by the other authors I have made friends with and that have helped me so much, like Stefanie K Steck and Hannah Parker, and so many others.
What’s a random fact about you we should know?
- I adore Sour Patch Kids, they are my ultimate writing snack!
