We are so excited to have Gina Elizabeth with us this month for our June Author Spotlight! Gina is a fellow Air Force Spouse and she's been carrying her characters with her since she was a kid! She was finally able to put pen to paper and unleash her characters with her shapeshifter series, Hunted: Bonded in Blood! The book just released in March of 2025!
What branch of the military are you affiliated with?
- Air Force
How long have you been a military spouse?
- Current Milspouse-4 years
What is your favorite part about being in a military family?
- Traveling Europe.
What would you say is your biggest challenge being in a military family?
- Moving every few years and having to rebuild community, it can get lonely.
What is one piece of advice you would like to share with our current military families?
- Put yourself out there, there is a community! Find events, reach out to other spouses, and just be yourself. You'll find your people.
How or why did you decide to become an author?
- I've wanted to be an author since I was little. I've always loved reading and wrote the beginnings of several stories as a teenager, but never felt I was good enough. Finally in my 30s, I fully pursued that dream, took courses, read books on craft, and finally wrote and published my story!
What book has been your favorite that you have written so far?
- I’ve only written a prequel novella and the first novel in a trilogy and to be honest, I can’t choose between them. The prequel novella, Hide, is my baby. The characters were the same age I was when I started writing their story, and they finally got their story. But the full-length novel, Hunted, was an entirely different beast. I had to figure out who my characters were as adults. What their story was now. That entire book was a labor of love, truly. It’s completely different from the first draft, and I’m proud that I’ve found my target audience who appreciates my characters and their journey.
Do you have more books planned for the future?
- I have two more books planned for that series, and since I finally wrote Hide/Hunted, it seemed to unlock something in me. I haven’t been able to come up with any ideas for the last 20 years because I couldn’t stop thinking about THIS story, THESE characters. Now that I’ve finally started it, I think they released their hold on me.
- I now have 4 ideas for three different series.
- A standalone fairy book.
- A duology vampire mafia/vampire hunter dark romance.
- A 3 book (each stand-alones) Cowgirl/Werewolf romance series
- And way down the line, I want to plan a huge interconnected multi-book series of pirates and mermaids.
What author inspires you?
- Too many to count but I’ll give you my top 3-Tamora Pierce, Emily Rath, Patrick Rothfuss.
What’s a random fact about you we should know?
- I quit my job and bought a one-way ticket to New Zealand when I realized life wasn’t going how it was “supposed” to. I always wanted to travel, and I was tired of waiting for the perfect time to go and the perfect person to share it with. I lived there for 5 months, working on random farms in exchange for food and lodging so that I could finally live life on my own terms.
Anything else you would like to share?
- I have two dogs and a dumpster cat. They’re my fur babies and I love them so much.
