I have 3 kiddos who LOVE being in the kitchen with me! So, I decided to let them do a kitchen takeover! We grabbed our favorite aprons and chef hats and were ready to start concocting some fun! I customized this play dough recipe for my family and it ended up being the perfect amount to make 3 different colors, which was perfect for my three kids.

Ingredients:

Optional Modifications:

Directions:

  1. Combine all ingredients.
  2. If you want to do multiple colors you will need to do separate batches.
(I had good luck with measuring out 3/4 cup of the mixture.)
  3. Add 1-1.5 oz of Jell-o (per color to make three colors, otherwise use the whole 3 oz)
  4. Mix over medium heat. It will get a little lumpy but continue to mix
  5. Remove from heat and knead when cooled.
  6. Enjoy!

We had a blast combining these with our favorite dough tools. I also made sure to put down a tablecloth, but this play dough stayed together really well and wasn’t very messy!

My kids are so excited to play with this almost every day! So, we even took the time to learn about the history of the original Play-doh. According to Play-doh, it was invented as a way to clean soot off of wallpaper in the 1930s. The brand was founded in 1956 by Noah McVicker and Joseph McVicker and has really continued to evolve from there! Who knew?!?!

We hope you have as much fun as we did in the kitchen with this play dough recipe, and you can explore more recipes with My Military Lifestyle
